Top Five Rainy Day Favorites:
1. Read a Book: One of the things about rain, is its ability to keep many inside. Reading is a great to escape from the confines of an indoor space. Grab your copy of Harry Potter and fly away with Harry and the gang to the world of magic, experiencing Quidditch, Divination Class, an invisibility cloak, and slew of other magical items. No better escape from the rain.
2. Take a Nap: What better way to absorb the sounds of the rain? The soft soundtrack of the rain on a widow creates a soothing meter conducive to sleep. A rainy day nap can take your mind off of anything.
3. Watch a Movie: A rainy day presents a great day to catch up on movies or TV shows you’ve been too busy to watch. I tend to get caught up watching old episodes of Law and Order, while lounging on the couch.
4. Write: I have spent today’s rainy weather writing. There is something about the rain that gives you a chance to reflect. Rain becomes an outward cleansing of things that have become dirty from the daily musings like your car or the dirty shoes at the backdoor, and so today, I have let my writing become my way of cleaning out ideas running in my head by penning them down on paper.
5. Play Soccer: This definitely seems counter to all the great indoor activities I have listed, but if you are just itching to get outside and play in the rain—GO!! My favorite days at camp are rainy days. Instead of spending the day indoors, the entire camp heads down to the soccer fields and plays a big game of soccer. There is no staying dry, but somehow everyone leaves smiley and a bit muddy. Ditching the raincoat and just feeling the drops of beat down is my favorite rainy day activity hands down. So, “don’t let the rain get you down-it’s a waste of time.”
